Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

Man dies on construction site

Construction workers face serious dangers on the job every single day. California state laws and national laws do stipulate guidelines for safe working environments but those are not sufficient to prevent all problems. When a workplace accident happens and a construction worker is injured, the resulting situation can be severe. Some problems result in lifelong injuries or even death.

A family in New York is today grieving over the loss of a 54-year old man who died in an on-the-job accident while working for a construction company as a subcontractor. Few details of the accident are known but the incident occurred on the fourth floor of a building in Malta in Saratoga County. The work was related to an industrial air exchanger at a plant that manufactures computer chips for GlobalFoundries.

The victim was one of six men working on the air exchanger. It is not known if any other persons were involved in the accident or injured in any way. All work on the project was put on hold following the man’s death. No information was provided regarding the nature of the incident. It may have been an electrical accident, a forklift accident, a scaffolding fall or something else.

Despite being known for a high injury and fatality rate, the construction industry remains vital. Employees work hard and should be able to trust in the safety of their equipment and procedures. When tragedies strike, injured workers and their family members may consider talking with an attorney to seek help with compensation.
