Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

Concerns about workplace safety voiced by OSHA

The state of California has an incredibly large workforce that spans virtually every type of industry and level of position. From the high-tech mecca of Silicon Valley to the nation’s agriculture heart in the central valley and more, workers face different dangers every day. When an on-the-job accident occurs in any business sector, the available forms of compensation may or may not be sufficient to provide for everything a victim needs.

Workplace accidents are taking center stage in a new manner according to the man who leads the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in the United States. In a recent report, he has been quoted as saying that the relationship between low-wage jobs and unsafe working environments is yet another form of inequality in our society. Noting that employees in lower-paying job sectors have higher rates of non-fatal injuries or illnesses, he also highlighted the dramatic impact that a life-altering injury can have to these people and their employees.

Compliance with OSHA regulations is not sufficient to truly protect workers, the OSHA chief has declared. Instead, employers should put their efforts into accident prevention and overall safety programs and cultures. With nearly four million non-fatal work-related illnesses or injuries recorded in 2012 according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the need to address this issue is great.

Victims of workplace accidents may wish to seek help with receiving compensation from a lawyer. Input from a professional that understands the laws in this area may be a way to get the results that are needed.
