Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

California surgery centers see less money in workers comp payouts

Workers compensation laws in California change often, which means employees in Los Angeles who get hurt on the job may not always be aware of their rights. That’s why it’s very important for anyone who is hurt on the job to make sure he or she understands how workers’ compensation regulations work. If you are hurt in a work-related accident then you are probably entitled to workers' compensation.

According to a new report from the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California and the California Workers' Compensation Institute, the amount of fees paid to ambulatory surgery centers in the state has decreased by more than 25 percent, recently. The reduction is apparently due to recent reforms to workers compensation regulations in the state.

The latest workers’ comp reform bill limits the maximum fees that can be paid to these kinds of surgery centers to 80 percent of the cost for like services paid by Medicare. Fees to ambulatory surgery centers had been a cause of increasing workers compensation medical expenses in California. Due to the change in policy, however, amounts paid to ambulatory surgery centers have decreased by more than a fourth from 2012 to 2013.

Have you ever been hurt on the job? Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had a job-related injury and you couldn’t continue to work? Although many people might not really think about getting hurt on the job, work accidents happen all the time. If you’ve been hurt on the job, then it is probably a good idea for you to speak with an experienced workers’ compensation attorney as soon as you can.
