Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

Three workers hurt after fall at construction site

When someone in the Los Angeles area is hurt on the job he or she might have many questions and concerns, like: “how will I be able to support myself?” Being hurt on the job is a difficult thing to go through but if you’ve experienced a job-related injury then you’re probably eligible for workers’ compensation.

The department of labor is investigating a recent accident that happened at a construction site at a college campus. This is the first accident reported at the site since the project began in 2011. According to reports three men were injured when they fell while standing on a platform that apparently gave way. The three workers were treated at the hospital but their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

According to reports one of the three suffered a head injury, while another one hurt his back. The third person suffered a leg injury. Reportedly, the three workers were in the middle of helping a crane operator move a steel beam. As they attempted to help lift the beam to set it in its designated place the platform they were on collapsed. The three workers fell from a height of about eight feet to the ground below.

If it is determined that the construction company was careless or negligent in any way then the three workers could decide to seek damages for their injuries. However, because they were injured on the job they are entitled to workers’ compensation for their medical bills as well as their lost wages from time missed. If you have been hurt at work, but have not been able to collect workers’ compensation then you might want to speak with a workers’ comp attorney right away.
