Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

Two firefighters injured while fighting house fire

Despite the best efforts of employers and employees alike, accidents still happen on the job. When someone is injured in a workplace accident he or she should be able to expect to receive workers’ compensation for medical expenses and for missed time. Anyone in the Los Angeles area who has suffered a workplace injury should be aware of his or her legal rights.

Two firefighters suffered injuries while fighting a house fire that were serious enough to send them to the hospital. The firefighters were reportedly hurt when they fell after a floor collapsed as they were fighting the blaze. One of the men suffered a knee injury while the other man hurt his back. At one point as many as 60 firefighters were battling the flames.

Meantime, the damage to the property was estimated at about $400,000. Although this incident could have been worse, it is still unknown how the injuries these two men suffered will effect them going forward. Each of them could face difficulties, pain and suffering as they try to return to normal work activities. In fact, many times when a person is hurt the injury can linger for much longer than anticipated and can affect a person for months or even years to come.

If these two firefighters suffer any long-term consequences because of these injuries they should be entitled to workers’ compensation for the entire time they are unable to work and the medical expenses incurred. Anyone who is having difficulty with receiving workers’ compensation might want to seek the help of an experienced attorney.
