Representing Injured Workers Since 1955

Man still unable to work after falling during construction job

There are many kinds of workplace accidents and injuries that can occur on the job. Some professions obviously have more dangers than others, like construction workers. However, not matter the job, when a person is hurt at work in the Los Angeles area he or she should receive workers’ compensation.

A construction worker who was hurt when he reportedly fell while working on a new building is suing several entities for his injuries. The man reportedly hurt his arms and legs when he fell down a shaft at the work site. The 58-yer-old man has still not been able to return to work even though the accident occurred last summer. The man claims that the accident happened because the working conditions were not safe.

The man was working with the heating and ventilation portion of the project when he fell down the elevator shaft one floor below. He apparently became stuck in the ductwork, which was able to prevent him from falling the entire distance of the shaft. A firefighter was lowered into the shaft to help free the man, but he suffered serious injuries, which required surgery.

Obviously the man was hurt on the job and even if he does not win his lawsuit, he should still be eligible for workers’ compensation for all of his lost wages as well as for all of the medical bills incurred. Anyone who has been hurt on the job but is having a hard time receiving workers’ compensation should probably contact a competent workers compensation lawyer.
