Man suffers knee injury after forklift accident at work

Just about everyone who has been injured on the job in the Los Angeles County area is entitled to workers’ compensation. It is important for a person to understand how workers’ compensation laws work and to know how much compensation for which he or she might be eligible.

An Orange County man is expected to survive a workplace injury involving a forklift and a piece of metal. The accident occurred as another worker was hauling a trailer while driving a forklift. While maneuvering through the warehouse the trailer broke free from the forklift. Apparently a piece of metal flew off the trailer as it became loose. At this point officials aren’t sure what caused the trailer to become dislodged from the lift.

The piece of metal impaled the man in the back of the knee. Medical personal said they planned to take the man to the hospital. However, when firefighters arrived they decided to remove the object at the scene. Specially trained firefighters were on hand to use special tools to cut the piece of metal out of the man’s leg. There were no reports as to whether or not anyone at the worksite was sited for any safety violations.

As investigators continue to look into this incident they will have to determine if someone is fault, or if the company for whom the man worked was negligent in any way. Either way, the injured man should receive workers' compensation and he may also be eligible for further compensation for his pain and suffering. This would probably be a good time for him to speak with a workers’ compensation attorney.
